How to Buy the Best Car for Your Ride-Sharing Service

If you're looking for a part-time income, have access to a decent car and want to control the hours you work, then driving for a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft might be a good option for you. But what is a 'decent' car?

U.S. News Best Cars recommends three criteria for selecting a car to use for your Lyft or Uber business. These are:
  • Reliability. Choose a vehicle that has a reputation for dependability, and keep it in top condition. Keep it clean inside and out and have it serviced regularly.
  • Fuel economy. Choose a vehicle with a high mpg.
  • Spacious rear seat. The passengers/customers will be sending all of their time here. A comfortable, luxurious ride will bring you more high ratings, compliments, and tips.
Among the cars that U.S. News considers suitable for ride-sharing are sedans, including the Honda Accord, the Toyota Camry, and the Ford Fusion Hybrid. It recommends sedans over SUVs because of their higher fuel efficiency and lower base price.
